After leading initially, Wayne State University's men's golf team slipped to second place on the second day of the Ken Partridge Invitational. The team carded eight-over 296, accumulating a two-round score of 579, three strokes behind leading Missouri S&T, which has a score of 576. Despite the setback, Josh DiCarlo stood out individually, being tied for fifth place.
"Really tough day today," said head coach Mike Horn. "It's the first time all spring that we lost our composure and didn't execute. It was a real feel of 24° for the last six holes and we didn't battle like we normally do. We will regroup for tomorrow and be ready to go and try to get back on top. Very good play from Josh (DiCarlo) today shooting under par in those conditions."
Several other team members kept their positions on the leaderboard. Josh Lahner, competing as an individual, tied for 18th. Luc Warnock tied for 23rd, followed by Ian Smith at 25th, and both Max Leppelmeier and Tyler Hurtubise tied for 37th.
The top teams are Missouri S&T, Wayne State, Indianapolis, Ferris State, and Grand Valley State, occupying first to fifth places, respectively. The teams will participate in the final round starting at noon on Tuesday.
