Graduate student Josh DiCarlo from Wayne State University has been honored as the GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week. The recognition marks the second occasion this season and the third in his career that DiCarlo has received this award, the league office announced on Wednesday.

DiCarlo's recent accolade follows his victory at Wayne State's Motor City Meltdown, where he scored a 143 over two rounds, finishing two strokes ahead of his nearest competitor. This achievement was his second Medalist Honor of the season and the third in his career. DiCarlo's performance helped Wayne State win its eighth tournament of the 2024-25 season. Notably, DiCarlo is now the 10th golfer in program history to secure three or more tournament wins, with the last being Brendan Seys in 2017.

The season has seen DiCarlo deliver remarkable performances with the following placements in 10 events: T-3rd, T-16th, 2nd, T-16th, 3rd, 3rd, T-2nd, 1st, T-5th, and 1st. His results include 2 individual titles, 7 top 3 finishes, 8 top 5 finishes, and all top 25 finishes. Out of 25 rounds, 14 have been below par, and 19 have been even or below par.

As the postseason approaches, DiCarlo and his team are preparing for the GLIAC Championships at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Augusta, Mich., starting on Friday. The event includes an 18-hole play on each day, Friday and Saturday, to determine the Stroke Play Champion. The top four teams will then compete in the Medal Match Play Championship semifinals with the finals scheduled for Sunday.
