Wayne State University's softball team emerged victorious twice in a matchup against Davenport University, capturing wins both in the opener with a 5-1 score and in the second game 11-3 in five innings. The wins put Wayne State at 21-26 overall and 10-12 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), while Davenport fell to a 17-27 overall record and 8-16 in GLIAC.
In the first game, Wayne State's Logan Forman and Hunter Near both hit solo home runs, while Mady Ruczynski drove in five runs during the second game. The performances helped the Warriors to a solid afternoon, allowing just two earned runs over 12 innings across both games.
During the first game, Forman started Wayne State's scoring with an early home run. Near added a second solo homer in the following inning. WSU expanded its lead with a three-run third inning, highlighted by contributions from players like senior Rylie Josephson and freshman Katelyn DeWitt. Sydney Long handled the pitching duties for Wayne State, allowing just one run over seven innings.
Davenport scored once in the fifth inning with Brooke Bernt's single followed by Kailyne Luna's double. However, Long managed to limit further damage to help secure the 5-1 win.

Davenport's Savanna Disbrow hit a leadoff home run in the fourth inning, contributing to Davenport's three runs in that frame. Despite loading the bases in the third and fifth innings, Wayne State's pitching maintained control to clinch the sweep.
Ruczynski finished the day going 3-for-3 with five RBI, while Davenport's Bernt had a consistent showing with hits in both games.
Wayne State will face six more road GLIAC games in the final week of the regular season, starting with a game at Ferris State.
