Graduate student Anais Ruyssen from Wayne State University's women's tennis team has been awarded her third consecutive GLIAC Commissioner's Award. This recognition honors student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. To qualify, recipients must be junior, senior, or graduate-level student-athletes. The awards are distributed after the fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons to six female and six male athletes.

Ruyssen is only the third Warrior in the award's 18-year history to receive it three times. She joins Karter Fitzpatrick (baseball) and Jordan Fox (women's swimming), who were also three-time recipients between 2022-24. Additionally, Ruyssen has earned her third consecutive CSC Academic All-America honor and became the first three-time GLIAC Player of the Year in at least 25 years.

Throughout her four years at Wayne State University, Ruyssen played as No. 1 in both singles and doubles. She ranks third in program history with 95 doubles wins and is tied for fourth with 84 singles victories. Her career record includes 114 singles matches (84-30) and 136 doubles matches (95-41).

Ruyssen was named the 2025 ITA Midwest Senior Player of the Year and helped lead Wayne State University to three consecutive NCAA quarterfinal appearances—a first for the program. The team achieved a No. 1 ranking in the Midwest Region by season's end while Ruyssen was ranked tenth in singles and fifth in doubles nationally.

Academically, she completed a bachelor's degree in management with a GPA of 3.78 and is currently pursuing an MBA with a GPA of 3.50.
