Wayne State women’s golf opens season at ODU Champions Classic

Wayne State University's women's golf team is set to start its 12th season at the Champions of Women's Golf Classic, hosted by Ohio Dominican University. The tournament will take place over two days at the Champions Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio. Last year, Wayne State finished sixth out of 15 teams at this event.

Fifth-year head coach Larry Hamilton commented on the team's preparation and outlook for the season opener. "We've had a couple really good weeks of preparation and are all excited to get the fall season started," said Hamilton. "Champions Golf Course in Columbus will be a great test to see where everyone is at with there game."

The Warriors' starting lineup includes Sonia Bayahya from Casablanca, Morocco; Orianna Bylsma from Montague, Michigan; Ting-Yu Kuo from Taipei, Taiwan; Clara Laffitte from Montevideo, Uruguay; and Claudia Portillo from Madrid, Spain.

The field for the tournament features teams such as Ashland, Charleston, Davenport, Fairmont State, Gannon, Glenville State, Kentucky Wesleyan, Malone, Northwood, Ohio Dominican, Purdue Northwest, Thomas More, Tiffin, Walsh and Wayne State.
