Stefan Terleckyj, Football player | Wayne State Warriors Men's Football
Stefan Terleckyj, a former standout for the Wayne State Warriors football team, will be inducted into the Wayne State Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 3 at The Eastern.
Terleckyj played for the Warriors from 2010 to 2013 and was recognized as a five-time All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) performer. He received the WSU Special Teams MVP award three times during his collegiate career.
He holds several school records, including most PATs made (169), field goals made (39), points by a kicker (286), highest PAT percentage (98.3), highest field goal percentage (68.4), and most consecutive PATs made (65). His total of 286 points places him third in Wayne State history behind running backs Joique Bell and Toney Davis.
In addition to his kicking achievements, Terleckyj ranks third in career punting yards at Wayne State and has the highest career punting average (40.37) among players with at least 26 punts over the past 74 years.
As a freshman in 2010, he set a new school record for kicking points in a season with 77 and led the GLIAC in PAT percentage after making all 44 attempts. In his sophomore year, he broke his own record with 106 points and was named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention. That season, he also had eight punts over 50 yards and placed 26 inside the opponent's 20-yard line.
During his junior year, Terleckyj posted a punting average of 40.98 yards—the best at Wayne State in more than three decades—and kicked a 51-yard field goal against Allendale, marking the longest by a Warrior kicker in over thirty years. He was selected to the Super Region 4 Second Team as a punter and earned both First Team All-GLIAC honors as a punter and Second Team recognition as a kicker.
In his senior season, Terleckyj was named Honorable Mention All-America as a punter after leading the conference with an average of 42.8 yards per punt. He also appeared on the Fred Mitchell Award list for three consecutive seasons.
Off the field, Terleckyj was recognized for academic achievement as well. He spent three years on the GLIAC All-Academic Team and appeared on the Academic Honor Roll seven times, including four terms on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for maintaining a GPA above 3.5. He graduated with honors in psychology and was named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will honor Terleckyj’s contributions both athletically and academically during his time at Wayne State University.
