The Wayne State University men's tennis team is set to participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships, which will take place at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. The event is scheduled to run from Saturday, September 27 through Monday, September 29.
Last weekend, the Warriors competed at the University of Toledo's Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational. Luis Klaus and Thomas Mathys both achieved undefeated records in singles play, each finishing with a 4-0 mark. Benjamin Hill and Tom Wasner also performed well, securing 3-1 records in singles matches. In doubles action, the team of Tom Wasner and George Day led Wayne State with a perfect 3-0 record.
At the upcoming ITA Midwest Regional Championships, competition will be organized into several draws for both singles and doubles events. There will be four singles draws and three doubles draws. Singles matches are scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday, while doubles matches are set to start at 5:00 PM that same day. Teams from conferences including the GLIAC, G-MAC, and GLVC are expected to participate.
Wayne State's entries for Singles Draw A include George Day, Luis Klaus, Thomas Mathys, and Tom Wasner. In Draw B are Benjamin Hill, Sam Knowles, and Harry Forsyth; Draw C features Cole Anderson, Max Faniel, and Warren Gunnar.
For doubles competition in Draw A, Day/Wasner and Forsyth/Klaus will represent Wayne State. In Draw B are Anderson/Gunnar; Faniel/Hill; and Knowles/Mathys.
