Wayne State cross country prepares for Lucian Rosa Invite after strong home meet

The Wayne State University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the Lucian Rosa Invite hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday, September 27. The women's race will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by the men's event at 11:15 AM.

At their previous meet, the Warrior Challenge held on September 12, Wayne State's men's team secured a victory with 35 points. Glen Davis finished first, Sean Pettis took fifth place, and Jared Platt came in sixth. The women's team placed second with 45 points, led by Ava Peters in second place, Anna Gdowski in sixth, and Aubrey Migoski finishing eleventh.

This weekend's competition will include six other Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) teams: Lake Superior State, Northern Michigan, Purdue Northwest, Roosevelt, Saginaw Valley State, and host Parkside. The event will take place at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course. The women’s race is a 6K while the men’s race covers an 8K distance.

According to recent rankings from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), both Wayne State squads are recognized regionally. The men’s team is ranked tenth in the Midwest region and the women’s team holds eighth place.
