Elizabeth (Herriman) Willnow to enter Wayne State Hall of Fame for track achievements

Elizabeth (Herriman) Willnow, a former standout athlete for Wayne State Warriors Women's Track and Field, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Willnow competed from 2014 to 2017, earning seven varsity letters and qualifying three times for the national championships in the javelin event. She was recognized as a Second Team All-American in 2015.

Willnow remains prominent in the program's record books. She holds the top 19 marks in the javelin, including a school record throw of 44.84 meters at the 2016 NCAA Championships. In discus, she has the top 11 distances, with her best being a school record of 45.91 meters set at the 2016 GVSU Last Chance Meet. For outdoor shot put, she owns 13 of the top 15 marks, highlighted by a school record of 13.95 meters achieved at the 2016 GLIAC Championships.

In indoor competition, Willnow also made her mark by recording seven of the top ten performances in shot put, setting a school record with a throw of 14.20 meters at the 2017 GVSU Big Meet.

During her collegiate career, Herriman won back-to-back GLIAC javelin titles in 2016 and 2017 after finishing as runner-up in 2015. She earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors for javelin in both championship years.

Academically, Willnow was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team three times and was on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times for maintaining a term GPA above 3.5. The Adrian, Michigan native graduated with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering.
