Nine members of the Wayne State University men’s golf team have been honored with Academic All-GLIAC awards for the 2024-25 season. Over the past nine years, the program has seen 90 student-athletes receive this recognition.

To qualify for these honors, a student-athlete must be an active roster member at the end of the season and not a freshman or first-year transfer. The grade-point averages are calculated through the winter semester.

The All-Academic Excellence Team includes Shawn Sehra, who achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA in Finance, and Ian Smith, who maintained a 3.53 GPA in Marketing. This marks Smith’s fourth consecutive year on the Excellence Team.

The All-Academic Team features Adam Burghardt with a 3.36 GPA in Finance, Harrison Chapman with a 3.48 GPA in Sport Management, Andrew Daily with a 3.29 GPA in Accounting, Josh DiCarlo with a 3.38 GPA pursuing a Master’s in Automotive Supply Chain Management, Tyler Hurtubise with a 3.49 GPA in Sport Management, Josh Lahner with a 3.03 GPA in Finance, and Max Leppelmeier with a 3.41 GPA in Management.

Ian Smith also received College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District distinction for the third consecutive year.
