Wayne State men’s swim & dive advances nine athletes to GLIAC Championship finals

The Wayne State University men’s swimming and diving team completed the final preliminary session of the 2026 GLIAC Championships on Monday afternoon in Holland, Michigan. The Warriors participated in four events during this session and will have nine athletes advancing to the finals, along with a team competing in the 400 free relay scheduled for later that evening.

In the 1650 freestyle event, three swimmers—Khalil Ben Ajmia, Kadem Goksu Erdagli, and William Debroux—are set to compete in the timed final at night. Adam Kuc finished second with a time of 15:49.91, achieving an NCAA B Cut, while Liam Seifert placed third at 15:55.95 with another NCAA B Cut. Harrison Arnold secured fifth place with a time of 16:01.90.

For the 100 freestyle, Olin Charnstrom advanced to the championship finals after finishing eighth with a time of 44.43 (NCAA B Cut). Other competitors in this event did not advance beyond preliminaries.

In the 200 backstroke, Lorenzo Tassinari and Gabriel Arias advanced to the championship finals by placing second (1:45.82) and third (1:46.82), respectively—both meeting NCAA B Cut standards. Adam Kuc also qualified for finals by finishing sixth.

Alex Duhaime and Lucas Safta moved on to consolation finals in the 200 breaststroke after placing twelfth and sixteenth respectively.

Wayne State Warriors Men’s Swimming and Diving participates in both conference and non-conference meets throughout their season as part of their collegiate athletics program dedicated to intercollegiate competition (official website).
