Wayne State Warriors Women’s Basketball will play its final road games of the 2025-26 regular season against Roosevelt University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The team will then return to Detroit for home games against Lake Superior State and Saginaw Valley State to close out the regular schedule.
The Warriors have a history of competitive matchups with their upcoming opponents. Against Roosevelt, Wayne State previously won 78-50 earlier this season, led by Gabi Lutchka’s 25 points and 10 rebounds. Last year in Chicago, Wayne State lost to Roosevelt despite Shea Tripp scoring a career-high 29 points. In contests versus Parkside, Wayne State holds a narrow advantage in the series and has won the last three meetings, including a high-scoring game earlier this year where Lutchka scored a personal-best 32 points.
Roosevelt enters the matchup with a record of 7-16 overall and is led by Marie Outlay, who averages nearly 13 points per game along with almost seven rebounds per contest. Head coach Deon Thomas is in his fourth year at Roosevelt.
Wisconsin-Parkside stands at an even record ahead of its next game and features leading scorers Cassidy Arni and Katie Hamill, both averaging 14 points per game. Jen Conely serves as head coach for Parkside in her eighth season.
The Warriors recently achieved their first-ever win over a No.1 ranked team with a one-point victory against Grand Valley State on February 9. The team has played games across six states this season.
Junior guard McKenna Ferguson reached the milestone of 1,000 career points during Wayne State’s recent win over Michigan Tech. Senior forwards Taylor Thompson and Gabi Lutchka are also approaching that benchmark.
Head coach Carrie Lohr marked her 400th collegiate head coaching victory following Wayne State’s win at Tiffin in December.
Several players have contributed notable performances throughout the season. Taylor Thompson recorded her seventh double-double during an earlier win over Purdue Northwest, while Lutchka has four double-doubles so far this year. Jaci Tubergen posted her first career double-double during an overtime victory at Michigan Tech.
Wayne State’s strength of schedule ranks second nationally among NCAA Division II schools according to available data, with its composite schedule ranking seventh nationwide.
Warriors athletes have received seven GLIAC Player of the Week awards this season: Ferguson (three times), Thompson (three times), and Lutchka (once). “McKenna Ferguson has garnered three [GLIAC Player of the Week awards], with her most recent coming on the offensive end of the court (2/16) after tallying 21 points and two assists against #12-Northern Michigan, and a game-high 19 points during the win over Michigan Tech.”
Senior guard Jaci Tubergen has increased her role from last year, starting all but one game this season while improving scoring output and assist totals. Junior Emily Homan has also seen more playing time compared to previous seasons.
Statistically, Wayne State leads its conference in field goal percentage (.454) — which ranks eleventh nationally — as well as defensive rebounds per game (27.6). “McKenna Ferguson ranks 24th in career free throw percentage among active players (.797, min. 250 attempts).”
In their latest outing, Wayne State defeated Michigan Tech by one point at home for their fourth straight win: “McKenna Ferguson paced the Green and Gold with 19 points (6-of-16 FG, 2-of-7 3PT, 5-of-6 FT) and added six boards, three steals, and an assist.” Gabi Lutchka contributed another double-double performance in that contest.
