Wayne State women’s swim & dive prepares for GLIAC Championship finals

The Wayne State University women’s swimming and diving team completed the final preliminary session of the 2026 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Monday afternoon in Holland, Michigan. Seventeen student-athletes from Wayne State will participate in the finals later tonight, including the 400 free relay.

In the 1650 freestyle event, Diana Muccioli, Lilian Ljuckanov, and Emily Hedley are set to compete in tonight’s timed final. In the 100 freestyle preliminaries, Josey Coon, Kate Rhodes, and Kelsey Milz advanced to the consolation finals after finishing 11th, 13th, and 16th respectively. Lily Lindower and Ava Zimmerman did not advance.

For the 200 backstroke, Elly Belmore secured a spot in the championship finals with a fourth-place finish and an NCAA B Cut time. Lilian Ljuckanov, Megan Unger, and Annika Cho moved on to the consolation finals.

In the 200 breaststroke event, Emma Crispo tied for second place with an NCAA B Cut time while Delaney Parker finished seventh; both advanced to the championship finals. Scarlet Maison qualified for the consolation finals. Maddy Flynn did not advance; Madelyn Peura and Rose Haney swam as exhibition participants.

On one-meter diving, Alicia Viaches and Ariana Heugh reached the championship finals by placing fifth and seventh respectively. Zoe Wood and Isla Puzjak advanced to the consolation finals. Ella Murawski and Hannah Siebern did not advance.

Wayne State Warriors Women’s Swimming and Diving competes at the NCAA Division II level as part of Wayne State University’s intercollegiate athletics program based in Detroit, Michigan. The team is a member of both NCAA Division II events and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (official university athletics website).

The final night of competition is scheduled for this evening at 5:30 p.m.
