Wayne State University's women's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the Emerald Coast Collegiate tournament, marking their first spring event of the 2023-24 season. The competition, which includes 17 teams, saw Wayne State shoot a total score of 305 (+21) during Sunday's play.
Maisarah Hezri from Sungai Petani, Kedah, Malaysia led the Warriors with an individual score of 72 (+1), placing her in a tie for sixth among the participants. Other notable performances from Wayne State included Beca Vestman and Inja Fric both scoring 76 (+5), tying them for 22nd place.
The team standings show Flagler leading with a score of +6 (290), followed by Central Missouri at +13 (297). St. Mary's (Texas) holds third place with +18 (302), and UT Permian Basin is fourth at +19 (303).
The tournament continues as Wayne State aims to improve its position in the coming rounds.
