The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team, ranked 18th nationally, competed against Findlay and Northern Michigan at the Matthaei in Detroit. The Warriors emerged victorious over both teams, defeating the Wildcats with a score of 165-132 and the Oilers with a score of 205-88.
Head coach Sean Peters expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "Today was a rewarding day for all of the student-athletes. This format was very challenging, but we did a great job as a team to support each other and perform to the best of our ability. I am very proud of our Warriors with their strong swims and excellent dives."
Several individual victories were noted during the event. William Debroux won the 1000 free in 9:43.60 and the 500 free in 4:43.98. Olin Charnstrom took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.80 seconds. Trevor Jones secured wins in both the 200 fly (1:53.00) and the 400 IM (4:06.82). In diving events, Julio Osuna triumphed on both platforms, scoring 594.75 on the three-meter dive and 329.78 on the one-meter dive.
Looking ahead, Wayne State will participate in Davenport's Don Kimble Invitational from November 22 to November 24 at Kentwood Aquatic Center.
