Wayne State baseball splits doubleheader against Point Park

Wayne State University's baseball team faced off against Point Park in a doubleheader on Friday in Auburndale, Florida. The Warriors, with an overall record of 5-6, managed to split the games against Point Park, who hold a 7-2 record.

In the first game, Point Park took an early lead by scoring two runs—one in the first inning and another in the fourth. Wayne State's Jacoby Dale scored in the fifth inning thanks to Gabe Zeldes' bunt single. However, Point Park added two more runs in the sixth and seventh innings for a final score of 4-2. Macio Miller pitched five and two-thirds innings for Wayne State but suffered the loss despite allowing only three runs, two earned, on eight hits.

The second game saw a strong offensive performance from Wayne State, as they recorded season highs with 12 runs on 13 hits. The top three batters in their lineup were instrumental, going 7-for-9 collectively with eight runs scored and seven RBIs. Mason McGuire hit a grand slam home run during this game, contributing significantly to Wayne State's win with a score of 12-6.

Gabe Nazelli secured his second win of the season after pitching five innings where he allowed six runs on eight hits while striking out five batters. Will DeMasse provided effective relief pitching for Wayne State by not allowing any hits over two innings.

Wayne State is scheduled to play Malone next in Winter Haven, Florida.
