Junior right-hander Ethan Getting from Wayne State University has been recognized as the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week. This is his first time receiving this honor. Getting, hailing from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and previously associated with Portage Northern and Purdue Northwest, earned this accolade following a strong performance in a recent game.
In Wayne State's 4-3 victory over Florida Southern, ranked No. 20, Getting played a crucial role coming out of the bullpen. He pitched five scoreless innings on 64 pitches, allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out three batters. This was his first pitching victory as a Warrior and marked his longest outing since 2023.
Getting's achievement comes just before Wayne State begins its GLIAC play against Purdue Northwest. The series will take place from Friday to Sunday in Hammond, Indiana, with the first game scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. Eastern Time.
