Wayne State University has added three transfer pitchers to its baseball program for the upcoming season. Head coach Ryan Kelley, now in his 18th year leading the team, announced that right-handed pitcher Will Lowery, left-handed pitcher Philip Miller, and right-handed pitcher Jack Saputo will join the Warriors.

Lowery comes from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where he contributed to a record-setting 57 wins over two seasons. In 2025, he posted a 4.79 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 47 innings and achieved a 6-4 record in 13 appearances. During the previous year, he made 14 appearances with a 2-2 mark and recorded a complete game. He attended Grosse Ile High School, earning several accolades and serving as team captain his senior year.

Miller transfers after pitching at both Schoolcraft Community College and Tusculum. At Tusculum in 2025, he started all 13 games he pitched, finishing with a 2-6 record and a 5.76 ERA over nearly 60 innings while striking out 49 batters. He was named South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week on March 26 for his performance against Mars Hill. In earlier seasons at Schoolcraft C.C., Miller notched multiple wins and earned recognition as MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Saputo joins from Macomb Community College after an impressive relief campaign in which he allowed just one earned run over more than 28 innings for a 0.32 ERA in the most recent season. He struck out 41 batters while issuing only four walks and held opposing hitters to a .124 average without allowing any extra-base hits. Saputo was selected to several all-region teams following his performance.

Coach Kelley said: "We are excited to welcome Will Lowery, Philip Miller and Jack Saputo to our program as transfer student-athletes for the upcoming academic year. Each of these young men have developed their skills at successful programs under outstanding coaches prior to joining us at Wayne State University."

He continued: "Their individual journeys through high school baseball along with junior college or NCAA Division II competition has helped prepare them for this next chapter of their careers."

Kelley also noted: "They each bring different attributes as pitchers that will help strengthen our staff moving forward while contributing positively to our overall team culture."

The three new additions are expected to add depth and experience to Wayne State's pitching roster.
