The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team, ranked 11th nationally, competed against No. 8 Northern Michigan University in Marquette over the weekend for its first dual meet of the 2025-26 season. The two-day event began Friday with a skins meet that did not include team scoring. On Saturday, Wayne State secured a win over Northern Michigan with a final score of 163-137.

Head coach Sean Peters commented on the experience, stating, "The trip to NMU was definitely a great learning experience for our Warriors. The men, while we still have a larger new group, they definitely rose to the challenge that the Wildcats gave us, and it was indeed, a challenge. I'm very proud, but I also feel there are little things we need to fix for our guys to take that next step. Big shout out to both women and men's diving for their impact and performances. It is still early, so stay tuned."

On Friday, Gabriel Arias won three events: the 100 IM (52.20), 50 backstroke (skins) (24.04), and 50 breaststroke (skins) (27.31). Saturday's victories included the 400 medley relay by Olin Charnstrom, Gabriel Arias, Lorenzo Tassinari, and Tomas Osorio with a time of 3:22.30; William Debroux in the 1000 free (9:40.61); Olin Charnstrom in the 200 free (1:42.21); Gabriel Arias in the 100 back (50.58); Lorenzo Tassinari in both the 200 back (1:51.63) and 100 fly (51.60); and William Debroux again in the 500 free (4:41.70).

Wayne State's next competition will be at Oakland University's Golden Grizzly Invite from December 3-6 at the OU Aquatic Center in Rochester. Other participating teams will include Dartmouth and Grand Canyon.
