DTE ENERGY CO: DTE has extended the shutoff extension period for low-income eligible customers to April 30, 2020

Energy

DTE Energy Co issued the following announcement on March 23.

DTE Energy’s number one priority is the health and safety of our employees and customers. We make every effort, every day, to ensure we deliver energy to our more than 3 million customers. We have well established processes that provide financial assistance to hundreds of thousands of customers who, at times, need help to ensure their energy delivery is uninterrupted.

In the face of this global coronavirus pandemic, we are on high alert to help those customers whose lives are being disrupted. As a result, we are suspending shutoffs for non-payment for those customers who are low income eligible, effective immediately through April 5, 2020. This timing could be extended depending on the impact that the virus has on our communities. Those customers enrolled in our Senior Winter Protection Program have had their end dates automatically extended through May 3, 2020 without additional actions required on their part.
