The Wayne State University men's fencing team participated in the first day of The Ohio State University's Elite Invitational on November 8 at the French Field House in Columbus. The team ended the day with one win and four losses, defeating Cleveland State 20-7. Wayne State lost to Ohio State (20-7), Air Force Academy (19-8), University of North Carolina (22-5), and University of Pennsylvania (20-7).

In foil competition, Finn McIsaac, Lukas Tsao, Jakub Oronowicz, and Sam Gneuhs represented Wayne State. McIsaac had a 2-9 record for the day, with both wins coming against Cleveland State. Tsao finished with three wins out of twelve bouts, including victories over fencers from Ohio State, Air Force, and Penn. Oronowicz and Gneuhs each won two bouts; both defeated members of Cleveland State.

In epee events, Mahmoud Elsayed achieved an 11-4 record. He went undefeated against UNC and Cleveland State and posted positive results against Air Force and Penn as well. Shuayb Dinkins recorded four wins out of twelve matches, including one victory over Penn and three over Cleveland State competitors. Bryce Heim finished with three wins in ten matches, securing two against Air Force and one versus Ohio State. Justin Chenh's only win came in his match against Cleveland State.

Sabre fencers for Wayne State included Gabriel Dumoulin, Eyad Marouf, Connor Desautels, and Gwyd Perry. Marouf posted a strong performance with nine wins out of twelve bouts; he was undefeated against Ohio State and secured multiple victories against Air Force, North Carolina, and Penn. Desautels claimed five wins across fifteen bouts by defeating fencers from OSU, Air Force Academy, and Cleveland State. Perry notched three victories—all versus Cleveland State—in his five matches.

The team is scheduled to complete its participation in the OSU Elite Invitational on Sunday.
